The work problem

According to an announcement GE Appliances made on April 22, 2026, its Parts team coordinates with more than 700 service parts suppliers and oversees the shipment of approximately 27 million parts and accessories a year. It is a large logistics network that must keep parts available for at least seven years after a model's production ends.

Technology and data

GE Appliances has deployed more than 800 AI agents across manufacturing, logistics and supply chain work using Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise. In 2025, the company introduced a Supplier Collaboration Agent to manage communication with more than 600 suppliers and automatically handle order status inquiries. Custom agents are built and managed on Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, and employees can create agents without code in the Gemini Enterprise app.

Results

According to GE Appliances, after the Supplier Collaboration Agent automated order status inquiries, backorders fell by 25%, and the Parts team was able to focus on high-value strategic growth.

Limits and open questions

The period over which the backorder reduction was measured, the baseline and any step in which people review the agent's responses are not in the announcement.
