The work problem
According to a press release ADNOC issued on August 4, 2026, ADNOC's engineers had to watch drilling across onshore and offshore assets through multiple separate tools, reporting cycles that turned large volumes of drilling data into reports took several days, and some tasks required a full day of analysis.
Technology and data
Together with SLB, ADNOC deployed its AI-enabled Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC), built on SLB DrillOps, across its fleet of more than 120 drilling rigs. RTOC brings live rig data into a single environment so that business, asset and drilling teams share a real-time view of activity across the fleet, turns large volumes of drilling data into actionable information through automated dashboards and AI-powered performance insights, and analyzes real-time rig data to identify potential issues before they escalate. Engineers use this information to oversee drilling and make decisions. The system was developed in the UAE and runs in ADNOC's cloud environment.
Results
According to ADNOC, RTOC replaces multiple tools and cuts engineering effort by 30% to 40%, so each engineer can support two to three times more rigs. Reporting cycles that took several days now finish within hours, and analysis that took a full day takes minutes. The company said RTOC helps reduce incident response times by 4 to 12 hours and avoid one to two days of rig downtime.
Limits and open questions
The measurement period, the baseline for comparison and results by rig are not in the press release.
