The work problem
Microsoft's October 27, 2026 article says Telstra needed to reconcile billing and payments across legacy and new platforms during customer migrations. The challenge was to identify inconsistencies and corrective actions while maintaining operational trust and governance.
Technology and data
Telstra partnered with Microsoft Frontier Company to deploy an AI-powered Migration Payment Agent. It uses information across the legacy and new systems to proactively identify inconsistencies, recommend corrections and create enriched cases for human review. AI analysis is combined with human validation; a recommendation does not itself establish automatic payment or billing changes.
Results
Microsoft reported support for more than 272,000 service migrations and recommendation accuracy of at least 95% in production. It described improvements to complex operations and customer outcomes alongside reusable AI capabilities. The migration count and recommendation accuracy are separate measures.
Limits and open questions
The accuracy denominator, measurement period, cost savings and reduction in manual work are undisclosed. The specific system integration for acting after human approval was not established.
