The work problem
Deutsche Telekom cited GSMA research from 2025 showing that network quality remains a top concern for customers when they decide whether to stay with their network. During crowded events and sudden traffic surges, load can concentrate on some sites of the radio access network (RAN). The company said operations teams often rely on fragmented systems because networks span many domains and technologies, which slows root cause analysis and resolution.
Technology and data
The company built the RAN Guardian agent with Google Gemini models. The agent monitors network behaviour during high impact events and traffic surges and triggers remediation actions on its own. It covers the radio access network domain. The company said the agent has been live in production in Germany since its launch in November 2025.
Results
The company said the agent autonomously triggered more than 100 remediation actions at Christmas market events in its first month. In live operations it cut the time needed to manage major events from hours to around a minute, an improvement of more than 95 percent. For 2026 it has identified 237,000 events. During the February 2026 Carnival season it identified around 130 events and parades each expected to draw more than 10,000 participants, pre-checked all 611 mobile sites serving them and monitored most of them live. Only 5 sites reached peak load, and the agent adjusted those sites during the events. After the rollout in Germany, the company is scaling the agent to its European national companies, starting with the Czech Republic and Croatia.
Limits and open questions
The figures come from the company release, and neither the measurement method nor the baseline case for the time comparison is given. The release does not say whether people check actions before they run.
